Major Overview

The Chemical Engineering and Technology major of East China University of Science and Technology is one of the earliest established chemical engineering and chemical technology majors in China, belonging to the category of engineering, chemical engineering and pharmaceutical. During its development, the major has received numerous honors. In 2007, it became the first-class characteristic major construction site of the Higher Education Quality Project. In 2010, it was selected as the pilot major of the first batch of the Ministry of Education's "Excellent Engineer Training Program". In 2012, it was approved as the Ministry of Education's "Professional Comprehensive Reform Pilot" project. And in 2008 and 2014, it passed the professional certification and re-certification of the Ministry of Education's engineering education. In 2014, it also passed the American ABET engineering education professional certification. The major has a complete high-quality course system and national-level engineering education practice bases and other high-quality teaching resources. The teaching team has won many national-level honors. The Chemical Engineering College relies on and the Chemical Engineering and Technology discipline have achieved fruitful results in various assessments and construction projects. For example, in the 2016 discipline assessment, it was rated A + and was selected as a first-class discipline construction discipline. This major focuses on cultivating students' engineering practice and design abilities. The teaching quality is leading nationwide. The trained students have solid professional foundations, strong practical abilities, and wide adaptability, which are highly welcomed by the industry. It aims to cultivate first-class engineering and technical talents who are well-rounded in morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor, have systematic professional knowledge, profound humanistic literacy, solid professional skills, good engineering practice ability and comprehensive professional quality, and are capable of working in various aspects in the chemical industry and related industries. It is required that graduates with more than five years of experience can solve professional engineering problems, manage multi-disciplinary chemical projects, have workplace competitiveness, adapt to various working environments, and have the ability of lifelong learning and leadership.

Major Highlight

Chemical Engineering and Technology of ECUST (Engineering, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Category), is one of the earliest established majors of Chemical Engineering and Technology in China. In 2007, the major was graded by the Ministry of Education as the first class of the Distinctive Majors of Quality Program in Higher Education.
